Jacqueline Werket holds a Baccalaureate degree in nursing from the University of St. Catherine’s. She earned her Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, specializing as an adult/geriatric nurse practitioner. With 33 years of experience, she has retired as a nurse practitioner. Jacqueline is also a certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist, enabling her to conduct grief groups and individual sessions. She also assists those mourning the loss of a pet. The comprehensive eight-step Grief Recovery Method equips individuals with the necessary skills to navigate their grief journey effectively.
One of six children, Jacqueline grew up in Chisholm, Minnesota, on the enchanting Mesabi Iron Range. The contrasting symphony of electric shovels in the iron mines against the serene lakes and evergreen forests painted a unique landscape. Amidst the scent of pine and crisp mountain-like air, Jacqueline witnessed the beauty of Northern Minnesota, often dubbed “God’s country,” cherished by hunters, fishermen, and nature enthusiasts.
Loss has been a constant presence in Jacqueline’s life. Having lost Ian, her son, she also endured the tragic loss of two brothers and both parents, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins. This experience extended to her beloved pets as well. Confronting her own delayed grief, Jacqueline sought solace within the pages of various grief books, only to find the subject seldom addressed. This isolation led her to pen A Grief Postponed: A Nurse Practitioner’s Journey through Delayed Grief. Her book aims to dispel the loneliness surrounding delayed grief and offers support to those struggling with unresolved emotional pain. As a nurse practitioner, Jacqueline witnessed individuals grappling with physical symptoms and depression stemming from unresolved grief, further motivating her to pen this resource. Guided by the meaning of her name, “Guardian of Light,” Jacqueline embarked on this journey to hold the beacon of hope for those in the depths of grief.
